really bitch? then take that shit off display! i was recently told this at a LES gallery. when you enter their space directly to your left are 2 portfolios. one, has black and white drawings in crappy clear portfolio pages. the second, closer to the gallerina's desk, looked like (don't know cuz i wasn't allowed to touch), pastel or oil stick drawings. both of these portfolios were pretty dense and large. i completely looked and flipped every single page in the first one. and of course, it was a good thing to do because once i entered the main exhibition space i saw the stuff that was worked out in the drawings manifest in the paintings. wonderful - luv that! however, if you don't want people touching your shit either put a sign near it saying so, provide white cotton gloves so people can respectfully touch it or DON'T PUT THE SHIT UP!!! i hate this kinda shit that some galleries do. what's up w/the pretentious bullshit? and to top it off, a few days later i happen to be walking buy the gallery and BAM! there was a lady flipping thru that 2nd portfolio. bitches. what?, did i not look like i was gonna buy something? did i look too young or too poor to be granted permission to touch. if that's the case, go fuck yourself.

now let me share a shining example of a gallery: Schroeder Romero & Shredder. i don't personally know anyone at this gallery or any of their artists, but these people are just plan NICE. almost every time i check out one of their awesome shows, i have a question and they answer it w/out attitude. their last show Queening, by Brice Brown was filled w/many "fetishized objects" including harlequin puppets. when i saw these bad boys lined up on the wall, i just wanted to go back and forth and pull on all of them! i stifled my temptation and asked the guy behind the counter if it was alright to pull on them. no it was not alright, but, but but!!!! this is what i call nice. he came from behind the desk, pulled one off the wall, described it to me (that's sterling silver there people) and allowed me to pull. THANK YOU!!! that's being nice, that's being classy, that's good shit. and yes i can't wait to check out the show they have up now Vivid; Female Currents in Painting.
sounds like a nazi gallery gestapo!i'll bet she has a mustache too!!!
