Guggenheim Highlights

MOTONAGA Sadamasa. Work, 1963. Oil and gravel on canvas, 183.2 × 127.6 cm

this is a mix of various shows at the Guggenheim including:  Gutai: Splendid Playground, Kandinsky 1911-1913Zarina: Paper Like SkinNo Country: Contemporary Art for South and Southeast Asia, and work from the Thannhauser Collection

If you find yourself at the Guggenheim, DO NOT SKIP THE ANNEX SHOWS. All the show titles above, minus the Gutai, are ALL located in annexes or spokes off the main spiral. I'm sometimes unimpressed with the work along the spiral and am more inspired by these smaller, sometimes more thoughtful, shows in these side galleries. Info on some of the images included is spotty. The Guggenheim's website for the Gutai show just plain sucks and finding info about works online is ridiculously difficult - i've got even more of a stink eye for the Guggenheim because of that fact.

The images aren't in any order and somewhat represent the break from the spiral into the annexes.
