More MoMA Monday

Marilyn Minter Green Pink Caviar

lately, the only time i want to go to a museum is on monday - and there aren't that many open. so i ended up at MoMA again. i wanted to revisit their permanent collection and i found a little slice of russian constructivist heaven on 4 in the Patricia & Gustavo Cisneros Gallery. above is a video by Marilyn Minter. the rich pinks and greens, those luscious lips, squishy liquid and caviar...ahh - i could stand there for hours hypnotized by its slow motion and its Brain Eno-esque soundtrack. this was at a gallery somewhere, missed the show, but so glad MoMA bought this. there should be seating by it. madonna seemed to like it too. highlights of today's visit below.

Odilon Redon Roger & Angelica

El Lissitzky Proun 19D

Kazimir Malevich Reservist of the 1st Division
i've been getting into Kurt Schwitters too - brilliant!

Nikolai Suetia Cup and Saucer
what you don't get from this tiny photo is that the cup sits a little to the side on the plate - little space for a small cookie!

Mondrian, Composition in Oval with Color Planes 1
look at mr. pink meanie face up there! no but really those colors are gorgeous.

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner Street, Dresden

Yayoi Kusama No.F
i love this crazy bitch w/all her circles and dots! there's a movie about her (I Love Me) that i need to see - STAT!

Cy Twombly Leda and the Swan
it's amazing! all the frenetic mark making and scribbling is intense.

Lee Krasner Gaea
there's a lot energy and movement in this piece. really has vitality and strength - and all that lovely pink!

Franz Kline Chief
i can never get enough of this stuff. bold, strong marks.

Jean Dubuffet Wall with Inscriptions

Jackson Pollock Easter and the Totem

Arshile Gorky The Leaf of the Artichoke is an Owl
